Typography
Books’ design and editorial projects always fascinated me. During my master degree I worked on various projects where I could get closer to layout design and typography.

Swiss typography cookbook
The final output of the Publishing Lab is a cookbook in a swiss typography style. The starting point was a list of different recipes taken from Pellegrino Artusi's "La scienza in cucina e l'arte di mangiare bene" (Science in the kitchen and the Art of eating well). The purpose was to communicate in a visual way the process behind the cooking.

La Peste
The final output of the Type Design course is a physical typographic installation. We take adjectives related to medieval Black Death (La Peste) taken from an Ambroise Poiré’s paragraph. The installation is made out height banners in a colonnade in Venice. Each banner has a different halftone pattern: the more the distance, the less dense is the pattern itself. The spectator do not realize it from the starting point of view, the banners seems all the same and perfectly readable. While walking through the installation, suddenly you realize that the nearest you are, the less you can actually read. Words becomes Black Death plagues and when you finally understand, you know, it’s too late…

Tropic of cancer
The final output of the Publishing Lab is an illustrated book, where words and images merge together in order to achieve an emotional effect. I choose to illustrate some parts of the novel Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller using the red color to communicate a strong sensation. So all illustrated pages have the red as leitmotiv. Then I designed the cover as well as other two books in order to create a book series.
Selected spreads were displayed during the Made in Iuav Exposition inside the Architectural Venice Biennale 2008.
